Consumer Loan Underwriter
Responsible for analyzing consumer loan applications and information for both direct and indirect lending. Direct responsibility to underwrite secured and unsecured consumer loan products. Provides exceptional customer service and establishes/maintains good working relationships within the Solvay Bank branch network and indirect auto dealer partners. Qualified applicants should have strong written and verbal communication skills, an attention to accuracy and detail coupled with strong analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is required. Associates degree in finance, business or related field and 1-3 years banking or related experience is preferred.

Position Title: Reports To:
Consumer Loan Underwriter AVP, Consumer Lending Manager
Position summary:
Responsible for analyzing consumer loan applications and information for both direct and indirect lending. Direct responsibility to underwrite secured and unsecured consumer loan products. Provides exceptional customer service and establishes/maintains good working relationships with Solvay Bank branch network and indirect auto dealer partners.
Underwrite and decision consumer loan applications for both Indirect and Direct lending departments, including rotating evening and Saturday hours as needed to coincide with auto dealership hours.Work closely with branch staff to resolve questions regarding application information or loan decisions.Ensure loan applications ques are worked timely and application decisions are communicated within acceptable service level standards.Provides administrative support to the Consumer Lending Manager, including updating loan data, assembling of documentation for consumer loans, maintenance of various reports, as well as the coordination of response to internal and external audits.Ensures that proper documentation is received for loan applications and contract packages. Verifies loan contracts for accuracy and completeness.Works directly with auto dealerships to address any issues/discrepancies with loan documentation received from the dealer.Prepares approved and declined loan document packages for processing in accordance with consumer regulations and internal procedures.Responds timely to branch personnel and auto dealership inquiries concerning loan processing and information via phone, email and in person.Assists Consumer Lending Manager to resolve discrepancies and issues within Loan Origination software.Assists Consumer Lending Manager with Branch Staff training related to loan product and processing knowledge.Contributes to a strong teamwork atmosphere when conducting internal business.Adheres to bank and department policies and procedures, completes all required training.Maintains up to date proficiency in Loan Origination software and adjusts validation procedures best practices as needed.Skills and Attributes:

Experience and Education:
- 2 year associates degree in finance, business or related field.
- 1-3 years banking or related experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Some consumer lending experience preferred but not required
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, proficiency in Excel reporting
- Good understanding and interest in the Bank's products and services offered
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
