Job Description
Position Summary:
Plays a key role in the cost accounting, inventory, accounts receivable, internal control processes and management reporting for Teledyne Judson Technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounting Support
Maintains Judson accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices
Posts Accounts Receivable cash receipts daily
Prepares monthly account reconciliations and issue resolution
Reconciles backlog for TJT and resolves issues as needed
Ensures that reserves are correctly reflected according to source schedules
Processes weekly timecards in preparation for labor distribution and payroll processing
Reflects inventory stock adjustments and cost rolls in MK system
Participates in annual inventory counts
Month-End Closing
Activities including General Ledger, review of revenue and cost of sales, A/P, A/R, and payroll
Prepares month-end accrual journal entries
Generates Journal Entries and posts to General Ledger
Provides regular reporting/variance analysis/issue resolution for standard cost variances
Performs other analyses and assigned projects as needed
Special Assignments
Performs monthly reconciliations of inventory and cost of sales for standard products
Assists with Corporate surveys and special requests
Regularly utilizes company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for tracking and reporting of data
Assists in the generation of estimate to complete and estimate at completion for projects
Compiles actual cost information for projects as needed, and for monthly financial forecasts
Qualifications & Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:
Practical understanding of Cost Accounting
Strong understanding of GAAP
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
High attention to detail, ability to organize assignments and multitask
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with little supervision
Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field with five (5) plus years of experience in a financial and/or accounting position
Experience with Government Contract Accounting is desired
Experience with standard cost environment is desired, as well as project accounting
Citizenship Requirements
Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen.
