Responsibilities:
The candidate must be able to independently handle and litigate a discrimination and/or wage & hour cases and have a working knowledge of all aspects of these areas of the law.The candidate will be expected to handle litigation from inception through resolution .The foregoing includes drafting an answer, drafting all discovery demands and responses, conducting and defending depositions, making the requisite court appearances, drafting motions and arguing same in federal or state court, and conducting expert discovery.While the candidate’s work will be reviewed as necessary, the candidate will be primarily responsible for their own caseload.Experience in advising clients on numerous compliance matters, including employee discipline and discharge, employee benefits and related handbook and policy drafting, federal and state wage and hour laws and employee compensation, employee leave and reasonable accommodation issues (including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Family and Medical Leave Act compliance)Requirements:
7+ years of experienceHave 5+ years of trial experience (trial preferred, will consider first-chaired non-jury trials, administrative hearings, arbitrations, etc.)The candidate must be admitted to practice in New York, as well as the Federal Court (atleast Eastern and Southern Districts of New York)
