The School Improvement Administrator assists the Principal in leading the instruction in the school and maintaining the school focus on student achievement.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Work with the building principal and Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) to fully implement the district’s Instructional Model.Participate in data review teams to review student achievement.Design plans for student support and academic intervention with the building Instructional Leadership Team.Communicate goals of the District Instructional Initiate to staff.Acts as a liaison between the building and central office regarding instructional goals.Coordinate the administration of the instructional model in the assigned school.Research and implement effective teaching strategies to assist teachers.Incorporate and foster an innovative climate of practices, including observing and conferring among peers.Work with Staff Development to schedule and ensure staff has the needed training and skills to implement the instructional model.Work with building leaders to design a positive building climate for students which results in retention of students in GRPS.Ensure understanding of the district Instructional Model.Support the design of an efficient process for student scheduling and/or enrollment, and monitor the implementation of that process.Model and support technology as a vehicle for instruction.With the building ILT, design processes that support staff collaboration.Support the building principal in school adherence to district policies and procedures for all staff and students.Support the building’s work in the Community Engagement Model, with district Parent Action Leaders, and with community partnerships.Establish clear directions; set goals, and assign responsibilities that bring out the best in people; establish a good work plan and distribute the workload appropriately.Actively cultivate positive relationships with students and with parents.Monitor student achievement rates, failure rates, absenteeism rates, and suspension rates of all individual teachers.Use analysis, experience, and logical methods to make good decisions and to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; appropriately incorporate multiple inputs to establish shared ownership and effective action.Tactfully dispense direct and actionable feedback; be open and direct with others without being intimidating; deal head-on with problems and prickly situations.Assist in creating a climate in which people want to do their best; assess each person’s strengths and use them to get the best out of him or her; promote confidence and optimistic attitudes; be someone people like working for and with.Interact with co-workers, administration, district internal and external customers in positive, supportive and cooperative ways.Other responsibilities as assigned.This description is intended to describe the type and level of work performed by a person assigned to this position. Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred in Administration) in Education and Teacher certification or BA degree with comparable training and experience.Work experience in an educational setting, preferred.Strong curriculum background and understanding.Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups (cooperative).Demonstrated understanding of scheduling.Demonstrated understanding of Graduation requirements.Possesses required functional and technical knowledge and skills to do his or her job at a high level of accomplishment; demonstrates active interest and ability to enhance and apply new functional skills.Provides demonstrated evidence of leadership and positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and community.Spends his or her time and the time of others on what’s important; focuses on the critical few, and puts the trivial many aside; can quickly sense what will help or hinder the accomplishment of a goal.Provides demonstrated evidence of GRPS Guiding Principles: Ethical Behavior, Openness, Service, Productivity, Accountability and Capacity.Demonstrates desire to communicate effectively with diverse populations and understand the students we serve.Demonstrated the ability to build constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact to diffuse tense situations; has a style and charm that immediately puts others at ease and disarms hostility.Demonstrates the ability to assign responsibility for tasks and decisions; sets clear objectives and measures; monitors process, progress, and results; designs feedback loops into work.Demonstrated knowledge of data review process and experience with collaboration.Ability to contribute as a team member on district initiatives and planning teams.Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and issues in education, including the data review process, MEAP, MME, etc.ADA REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.MENTAL FUNCTIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.METHOD OF APPLICATION:
