This recruitment will be used to fill multiple full and part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week dependent on credits enrolled) Student Outreach Assistant positions for the KidSpirit Program in the Division of Extension and Engagement at Oregon State University (OSU). KidSpirit’s goal is to provide a quality and safe environment for all campers, parents, and staff. Employees should always be prepared and willing to respond to the unexpected. KidSpirit prides itself in challenging its employees to grow as individuals while gaining professional experience.Position Duties
100% Specific duties and percentages vary depending on the student assignment but duties may include:Responsible for leading specialized activities that promote nutrition and cooking.Able to coach skill development in food preparation and cooking.Preparing and implementing lesson plans, providing feedback, maintaining a safe learning environment, and assisting other instructors and camp counselors.Attending orientations, meetings, and in-service trainings.Shop for groceries.Able to cook from own kitchen being viewed by families and children.Ability to have/acquire or assistance in order to have technological capabilities to be cooking in a virtual live program.Completing and submitting appropriate documents as needed (incident/accident reports, monthly time sheets, lesson plans, etc.)Maintain equipment and supplies inventory.Administer first aid and activate emergency action steps if medical attention is required.For leadership positions:
Train cooking staff safety and instructing protocol.Maintain cooking staff and activity schedule.Delegate and manage cooking projects.Revise Standard Operating Procedures as needed.A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.Minimum Requirements
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program.Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term.Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
