www.ucihealth.org.Your Role on the TeamPosition Summary:Incumbent analyzes documentation for coding and clinical deficiencies to support physician's diagnosis or lack thereof. Abstracts data elements from patient records for purposes of accurately coding of clinical documentation. Works in collaboration with clinical documentation specialists to resolve clinical documentation issues that would affect coding. Reviews coding work, answers clinical coding questions, and resolving coding problems for CDI and Performance Improvement units.What It Takes to be SuccessfulRequired Qualifications:Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobKnowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminologyKnowledge of ICD-10 CM and CPT codingExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishCredentialed as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-HCredentialed as ACDIS or CDIP within 6 months of appointmentCoding reimbursement experienceCIRCC CredentialAbility to work independently and be a self starterAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System3 - 5 years of acute multi-specialty hospital coding experiencePreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and formsConditions of Employment:The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
