ABOUT THE COLLEGE:Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Position Responsibilities
Cleans various buildings, offices, rooms, institutional and non-institutional facilities;Cleans and sanitizes showers, restrooms, toilet facilities; keeps them properly supplied with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other items;Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, walls and woodwork; dusts furniture and equipment; empties and cleans ash trays; polishes furniture and metal fixtures; washes windows; vacuums rugs, curtains and furniture;Performs minor maintenance and repair work, such as unskilled painting, cleaning furnace flues, sharpening tools and replacing faucet washers or toilet tank floats;Empties wastebaskets, trashcans, and recycle containers;Utilizes the computerized Maintenance Management System to get and track work ordersSets up and takes down equipment and furnishings; arranges tables and chairs for special events; moves furniture and equipment;Repairs or replaces fixtures, furnishings, and any other miscellaneous objects;Paints small offices, latrines, kitchens, classrooms;Makes rounds, locking doors, closing windows, turning off lights and replacing burned out light bulbs; turns air conditioning and other equipment on and off;Shovels snow and sweeps and pressure washes sidewalks;Does occasional yard and garden chores such as mowing, raking, pruning, trimming, and debris pickup;Improves work methods, knowledge of equipment, supplies and safety through participation in training sessions with supervisors;Maintains inventory of equipment and products and makes simple reports; requisitions supplies and equipment;May supervise lower level staff.Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduation or GED certificateTwo years' experience in housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance, or custodial workKnowledgeable of safety procedures and hazardous chemicals involved in cleaning and/or disposing of hazardous wasteAble to follow written and oral instructionsAble to understands cleaning levels set by APPA for Higher Education FacilitiesAble to utilize a computer maintenance management system
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years' experience in housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance, or custodial work
