About This OpportunityThe City of Hillsboro is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Plumbing Plans Examiner to join our dedicated team of professionals. This critical role involves reviewing and evaluating plumbing plans and specifications for compliance with local, state and federal codes and regulations. General Statement of DutiesThe principal function of an employee in this class is to review new construction plans for compliance with the State Plumbing Code and other related laws, standards, and regulations.
Responsibilities include documenting compliance; providing technical assistance to facilitate the permitting process; working with design professionals to address and correct plan deficiencies; and tracking and monitoring plan compliance throughout construction in collaboration with field inspection staff. This class is distinguished from the class of Plans Examiner I by performing review of A-Level commercial, industrial, and multi-family buildings which requires additional certifications and experience to perform the work. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Examines residential, commercial, industrial, and public new construction plans for compliance with the State Plumbing Code and other related laws, standards, and regulations. Identifies and documents code-based corrections or plan deficiencies; prepares concise written plan review correspondence.Provides technical assistance to the public and building and design professionals, in person, over the phone, and through electronic media, with inquiries regarding construction plans; provides information and assistance regarding building code compliance measures needed to meet code requirements and to facilitate the permitting process; provides ongoing technical support to Permit Technician staff.Tracks and monitors projects through final plan approval and provides ongoing support to field staff throughout construction.Evaluates data and information to assess complex permit fees and development charges.Research code context and provides code interpretation analysis and recommendation to the Lead Plans Examiner and Chief Plans Examiner and suggests alternative methods or materials to customers during the construction design process.Prepares various reports, correspondence, and plan review documents; maintains records and documentation in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations, policy, and records retention procedures.Manage records and information in any format, in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations and City policy, guidance and records retention schedule.Job Qualifications & Requirements(At the time of application in addition to skills, knowledge and abilities listed above)
Associate's degree in Construction or Industrial Technology or in a closely related field or 2 years of building construction related experience; or, any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
