This recruitment is open to Alaska Residents only.
The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development's Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing is recruiting for a Licensing Examiner 3.
The duty station is located in Juneau. Teleworking opportunities are potentially available for these positions following an initial training period.
What you will be doing:The Licensing Examiner 3 position performs a wide variety of administrative assignments necessary to effectively staff one of the division's 21 professional licensing boards and to ensure qualified individuals are issued professional licenses for one or more of the division's professional licensing programs.
This position's duties include managing applicant files in a variety of formats; utilizing the in-house professional licensing database effectively; communicating with licensees verbally and in writing; ensuring supplemental documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with licensing standards; preparing materials and creating agendas for board meetings; administering board meetings; completing meeting minutes; tracking board projects and post-meeting assignments for staff and board members; managing board regulation projects; and completing certain research for the board or program as appropriate.
The licensing examiner 3 is the primary point of contact for board members and the public for their assigned program(s), and serves as a liaison between the division, applicants, the board, and any related associations at the State or National level.

The working conditions you can expect:The official duty station is located in our main office on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in Juneau. Our office has updated furnishings and is centrally located in the downtown area of the community.
The work environment is friendly, professional, and cooperative, with regular interaction with colleagues, other state agencies, and the general public. Our daily working environment is challenging and very busy with a high volume of customer contact through many methods including communciation through the professional licensing database, email, phone, videoconference, and sometimes in-person. Additionally, working with a board provides extensive experience in administering meetings, the process to create or amend laws set by the board (i.e., regulations) from beginning to end, and communication with multiple positions within and outside of the division including regulations specialists, other boards' staff, board members, Department of Law attorneys, and more.
