Position Description
DESCRIPTION:
The ideal candidate is degreed with solid accounting experience, has a strong working knowledge of the energy industry and is able to work with the accounting team and all levels of staff and management to handle or assist with various accounting & finance functions in the liquids pipeline and terminal business.
Full responsibilities of capital project asset set up and retirements
Assist in the development of capital and depreciation budgets and forecasts
Provide various capital related reports on a monthly and annual basis as required for both internal customers and JV partners
Responsible for accounting related to pipe relocation reimbursable projects including billing to third parties, asset set up and monthly reporting
Preparation of various journal entries to handle monthly reporting duties
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with SOX requirements
Understand and apply Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls
Assist with audits both internal and external
Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls, supporting manager and controller to ensure staff is well informed of accounting policies, procedures and regulations.
Perform and assist with various monthly close procedures for the SE region
Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested by management and corporate accounting
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Accounting from an accredited institution is required
3 - 5+ years of GL accounting experience
3+ years asset management and capital accounting experience preferred
Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with ability to solve complex problems through solution oriented analysis and cost effective solutions
Exhibit a high degree of initiative and ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision
Must possess and demonstrate strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels, internally and externally
Ability to organize work effectively, prioritize daily work (individual and department, as applicable), re-prioritize on short notice, and maintain strict confidentiality
Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks simultaneously, while maintaining a high quality of work product
Ability to work overtime during high volume periods, including but not limited to month/quarter/year end close
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules
Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
Working knowledge of Lawson preferred
Working experience in the Oil and Gas industry preferred
