Works on financial services problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.The Capital Equipment analyst is responsible for executing the University's policy and procedures surrounding Physical Inventory, which ensure University and Federal equipment are safeguarded and accurately reported in both the General Ledger and Subledger. The position will heavily interact with Campus Department Heads and Custodians on all matters as it relates to inventorial equipment (e.g., scheduling and conducting physical inventory, user training for Peoplesoft Asset Management, providing policy guidance, and troubleshooting discrepancies to the inventory records). The candidate will exercise judgment in weighing risk throughout the course of their daily tasks.The candidate should have a firm understanding of accounting systems in a large and complex environment. The Controller's Office is to be a trusted advisor working in partnership with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the financial stewardship of the campus and to uphold the public's trust in the institution and mission of UCSF.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. The UCSF Controller's organization delivers full accounting services and related systems for faculty, staff and students, UCSF Foundation, all University departments, and any outside entities who have a business relationship with the University. Services provided include General Ledger, Capital Accounting, Payroll, Student Bursar, and Sponsored Research Accounting. The office uses sophisticated technology to account and report on UCSF's financial activity.The Capital Equipment and Accounting unit is responsible for reporting UCSF consolidated financial results as it relates to Plant Property and Equipment and Debt. The unit also serves Central Service functions which include overseeing the end-to-end cycle of Inventorial Equipment, a key Financial Internal Control. The unit works closely with Campus departments on all matters related to Physical Inventory, and partners with other Service Units to ensure compliance with Federal policies surrounding Equipment purchases and inventory.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.2 or more years of related experienceWorking knowledge of financial processes, policies, and procedures.Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, and decision-making.Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.Ability to independently research data between multiple systems and ensure accurate financial transactions.This position is remote-based and requires one to work on-site four to six times a year (at the employee's expense) at our Mission Center office, located at 1855 Folsom Street, San Francisco.Preferred Qualifications

Experience in executing Federal and University policies surrounding Inventorial Equipment or auditing of internal controls.Experience in Peoplesoft Asset Management (or similar ERP).About UCSF
