Why does the job exist?
This position exists to develop and maintain the New Mexico Higher Education Department's (NMHED) mission critical software applications. The IT Application Developer II is responsible for creating, documents, securing, testing, and updating the agency's application software. This includes analysis, design, development, implementation, optimization, and administration on software solutions.
How does it get done?
This position acts as a full stack developer that will update, maintain and facilitate features to applications utilizing Springboot and Angular frameworks. Additionally, this incumbent will act as a single developer who coordinates with customers on new and developing features. The position will work in conjunction with the Higher Education Department (HED) operations team and report to the CIO.

This position serves HED leadership, employees, associated agencies, local organizations and students enrolled in New Mexico Higher Education Institutions.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will:- Have SQL, Cloud and Docker experience- Be team driven and self-efficient- Be responsible and reliable
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in software programming. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Office setting. Long periods of sitting and continuous use of monitor and keyboard. Stress due to deadlines and workload. Occasional overnight travel, work after hours, weekends and/or holidays may be required; Occasionally variable work schedule.
