Triton Medical Robotics
Principal Mechanical Engineer, Instruments and Composites
Triton Medical Robotics, Burlingame, California, United States, 94012
Triton Robotics, a division of Neptune Medical, is a lean, innovative, and ambitious venture capital funded Silicon Valley medical device start-up. We have already commercialized novel medical devices using our Dynamic Rigidization technology. Now we are building something truly unique: A fully flexible medical robotic platform intended to replace much of manual endoscopy. We believe our technology will be the standard for endoluminal robotics for decades to come.
TITLE:
Principal Mechanical Engineer, Instruments and Composites
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Principal Mechanical Engineer, Instruments and Composites will have a central role in further invention of our core rigidizing technology. You will champion your concepts through definition, ideation, engineering and clinically relevant assessments and, eventually, to market. This is a chance to work with cutting edge composite rigidization technology and make it even better.
The ideal candidate will act with passion and intensity in a medical device start-up that is fast paced and collaborative and will display the ability to perform to the requirements outlined below. For the right person, this position will be a tremendously exciting and career-defining opportunity, making core contributions to a genuinely new type of medical robotic platform.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bring both an experimental and analytical approach to your work while creating specific designs for the use of our composite technology in our robotic application.
Work with typical and new endoscope technologies:
Complex mechanism design
Design and process development of composite structures
Design of challenging injection molded components
Process development for bonding and assembly
Participate in the development of specifications, test methods and protocols to ensure the functionality, safety and efficacy of medical devices in accordance with medical device regulations and design controls.
Lead assessments and make recommendations for solving challenging design problems at both the component and system levels, via inspection, testing, analysis, and experimentation.
Be a mentor to younger engineers.
Be a technical leader on key projects.
Significant hands-on building and testing of multiple generations of prototypes.
Use DFM principles to reduce cost and simplify assembly.
Work closely with vendors.
Design and implement cleaning solutions.

A driven outlook and with a strong desire to succeed as an engineer, as a team, and as a company.
An inventive aptitude balanced with discipline and detail-orientation.
Experience with medical device manufacturing.
Great understanding of design controls and what is needed to get a product into patients.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with composite structures, both experimentally and analytically.
Experience with development of articulating endoscopes and catheters.
Developed products from invention to market release.
Experience in a start-up environment.
Proficient with SolidWorks.
Experience creating and managing schedules, budgets, and plans.
Made significant contributions to an IP portfolio: Cite pending or issued patents.
Triton Robotics is located in Burlingame, CA, within walking distance to the Millbrae Caltrain and BART station.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $185,000 and $240,000 depending on experience.
