A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Criminal Defense Attorney to join their legal team in South Carolina. The attorney will play a critical role in defending individuals accused of criminal offenses. The ideal candidate will utilize their legal expertise and strategic thinking to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. This position offers flexibility, with the option to work remotely or in-person.Location:
Columbia, SCDuties:
Conduct investigations, gather evidence, analyze case facts, and develop defense strategies for clients facing criminal charges.Meet with clients for initial consultations to evaluate their cases, explain legal rights, and advise on potential outcomes.Represent clients in legal proceedings, including arraignments, bail hearings, pre-trial hearings, trials, and sentencing.Present arguments, cross-examine witnesses, and challenge evidence in court to protect clients' interests.Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and precedents to build strong defense strategies.Collaborate with legal assistants, investigators, and experts to strengthen defense cases.Engage in negotiations with prosecutors to seek favorable plea bargains or settlements.Attend required firm meetings, including daily and monthly team sessions.Perform additional duties as assigned.Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing criminal defense law.Strong growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.Certifications:
Must be licensed to practice law in South Carolina.Skills:
