A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Appellate Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team in Kansas City, MO. This full-time position is ideal for individuals looking to advance their careers in appellate law within a dynamic and award-winning civil and criminal appellate practice.DutiesAssist in compiling and reviewing records for appeals.Conduct comprehensive research and draft appellate briefs, petitions, and motions.Support hearings and oral arguments by preparing necessary materials and documentation.Manage various day-to-day responsibilities associated with appellate litigation.RequirementsA minimum of 2 years of prior litigation experience with a demonstrated stable work history.Preference for candidates with appellate experience and familiarity with the appellate process; experience in post-conviction relief in criminal cases is also highly desired.Active and good standing license to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas, with a willingness to obtain licensure in additional states and federal jurisdictions as required.Exceptional analytical, research, and writing abilities, along with strong time-management and organizational skills.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.CertificationsActive membership in the Missouri and Kansas Bar Associations.SkillsProficient in WestLaw, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Professional, with the ability to quickly learn new software and systems.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a creative approach to problem-solving.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team.Willingness to engage in a wide range of civil and criminal matters.This position provides an excellent opportunity for a dedicated attorney to deepen their expertise in appellate litigation while contributing to a supportive and thriving legal practice.
