Position Summary:
The Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring the financial aspects of projects while they are being completed. This includes investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected. The Project Accountant may also be involved in best practices activities to streamline the flow of project-related information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projectsAssists project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting departmentNew job setup within accounting softwareInputs project budgets & material costsApproves and documents subcontractor pay requests, material invoices within assigned timelineObtains & monitors all subcontractor payments, lien waivers and verifies for accuracyProcesses monthly client billingsReconciles A/R for accuracy and assists in payment collection from clientReview and maintain accurate WIP reportReport on project profitability to managementInvestigate project variances and find opportunities for cost savingsAssists in financial aspects of project close outPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field3-5 years' experience in construction accountingProficient with computer programs including but not limited to Construction accounting software programs, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office 365, SalesforceProficient in AIA format billingCapable of working with a variety of people in a fast-paced deadline driven environmentCommunication, organization, and analytical skillsAbility to multi-task, work both independently and collaboratively, learn to adapt quickly while maintaining strong attention to detail
