Job Duties

This position serves as a subject matter expert for the audit and licensure processes by providing licensing support for the section within the Board of Counseling (BOC) responsible for the licensing of residents in counseling, residents in marriage and family therapy, residents in substance abuse treatment, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, and substance abuse treatment providers, certified substance abuse counselors, certified substance abuse counseling assistants, certified rehabilitation providers, art therapist, art therapist associates, qualified mental health professional trainees, qualified mental health professionals, peer recovery specialists, behavioral health technicians, and behavioral health technician assistants by accurately and efficiently applying laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Conducts annual audits and review process for compliance with continuing education requirements for licensure renewal. Reviews complex applications that require detailed review and research of education. Handles confidential and sensitive information on a routine basis, collaborates, consults and corresponds with agency staff, as well as outside agencies and entities.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations and /procedures associated with licensing and regulations.- Demonstrated ability to thoroughly review, analyze, and evaluate applications, supporting documents, education and legal documents, laws and regulations, and technical material to make valid determinations and recommendations.-Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with agency personnel, licensees, and the public, including the ability to prepare official documents, forms, and reports with accuracy and proofread routine correspondence and reports with close attention to detail, grammar and punctuation standards.-Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to self-organize and prioritize workflow with minimal supervision in a fast-paced working environment, while working collaboratively with Board and agency staff, the public, and others.-Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and calendar functions; familiarity with data entry and database management system reports, and electronic file maintenance.-Demonstrated knowledge regarding information technology, computer skills, google applications as well as expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.-Demonstrated ability to manage paper and electronic files and records.-Demonstrated knowledge of the Administrative Process Act and its application to licensure.-Demonstrated knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and its application to licensure and public meetings.-Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply laws and regulations.- Ability to handle confidential information.

Additional Considerations

- Experience in a regulatory, legal, or healthcare environment, and in working with an agency, board, or similar public body.- Experience working with confidential documents and sensitive information.
