Within Rock Equipment Rental, the Accounting Manager is an individual who brings a proven track record with a strong accounting background and experience, and a business thinker mindset capable providing input and leadership on a broad range of business issues. The Accounting Manager reports to the VP of Finance and is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions & financial reporting. Makes recommendations to the VP of Finance for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Accounting Manager supervises 1-2 staff within the Accounting Dept. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Certify an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Certify the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  • Initiate budget and forecasting activities
  • Manage and oversee rental billing, crediting and salesman commissions
  • Assists Accounts Receivable with collections
  • Evaluate equipment market price and margin for sales quotes
  • Oversee and maintain fleet database accuracy
  • Maintain fixed assets and produce reports in correlation to fleet/asset movement
  • Review rental agreements and certificates of insurance
  • Ensure sales and use tax compliance in all applicable jurisdictions
  • Respond to the information needs of other departments and affiliated companies
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Assist with annual year-end financial audit
  • Assist with semi-annual equipment appraisal
  • Assist in development & implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of business
  • Lead the Accounting team, which consists of 2 to 3 staff members


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Prior experience in the equipment rental industry or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
