The Opportunity
As the Financial Planning & Analysis Consultant, you will work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment designing and implementing capital management initiatives with a focus on improving quality and efficiency. This role will have the opportunity to work with the Capital Management Team on Treasury objectives.
The Team
The Financial Planning & Analysis Consultant is a member of the Treasury organization which is a dynamic team of individuals with diverse backgrounds that are focused on maintaining a balance between high and sustainable returns for policyholders, and a strong capital position, while enabling MassMutual to take advantage of growth opportunities; within internal, regulatory, and rating agency constraints. In addition, the team focuses on minimizing time spent on production and data manipulation activities by transforming our modeling, analytic, and reporting capabilities and implementing automation and technology where possible.
The Impact
This role will help drive the reporting of MassMutual's capital position and deliver analysis to inform strategic decision-making focused on capital drivers.
Provide period-over-period capital variance analysis and identify key drivers Improve attribution analysis to provide insight into capital trends and inform capital planning strategy Identify and evaluate capital spend for business and strategic opportunities, across financial, risk, and strategic views Participate in industry-wide advocacy efforts on upcoming regulatory changes and/or assist in implementing capital-efficient structures Participate and provide support in capital initiatives, including capital budgeting & allocation, product-level capital consumption analysis, and long-term forecasting of capital position Provide support on various capital management initiatives focused on developing enhanced capital analytics Represent MassMutual in discussions with the regulators and industry groups (e.g., National Association of Insurance Commissioners, American Council of Life Insurers, American Academy of Actuaries) to monitor proposed regulatory changes
The Minimum Qualifications BS in accounting, finance, business, actuarial science, or a related field 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate finance roles, including capital management, planning & analysis, enterprise risk management, etc.
The Ideal Qualifications Knowledge of statutory, rating agency, and economic capital frameworks Experience in capital management, allocation, and budgeting Knowledge of US GAAP and statutory accounting Experience working in a Finance transformational setting; driving change and managing competing priorities Ability to identify and implement changes to complex processes that will save processing time and/or provide insight into results
