Job Summary:The Director of Warehouse Operations will oversee and manage all warehouse functions within Alaska, ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and customer service. This role involves leading a team, optimizing processes, and collaborating across departments to ensure the seamless flow of goods in and out of the warehouse, with a focus on meeting performance goals related to capacity, accuracy, and on-time delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
Develop and implement strategic operational goals for warehouse operations, ensuring alignment with the overall company strategy.
Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, including inbound, outbound, inventory control, order fulfillment, and transportation coordination.
Continuously improve warehouse workflows, technology, and infrastructure to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and foster a culture of safety across all warehouse teams.
Staff Management & Development:
Lead, mentor, and manage warehouse teams including supervisors, inventory staff, and warehouse workers.
Create and manage training programs to ensure employee development and operational excellence.
Oversee workforce planning, including hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
Inventory Management:
Ensure accurate inventory management and develop strategies to minimize shrinkage.
Monitor and report on key inventory performance metrics, including inventory turnover, cycle counts, and stock levels.
Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to improve inventory forecasting and stock optimization.
Process Improvement:
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency.
Identify and implement technology solutions (WMS, automation) to streamline warehouse operations and improve data accuracy.
Budgeting & Financial Accountability:
Develop and manage warehouse operating budgets, controlling costs while ensuring high levels of service and operational performance.
Monitor financial performance, including labor costs, equipment costs, and inventory carrying costs, identifying areas for improvement.
Customer Focus & Service Excellence:
Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction by ensuring timely, accurate shipments and deliveries.
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for warehouse performance and drive continuous improvement in service levels.
Collaborate with sales, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure customer requirements are met and exceeded.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in warehouse operations management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
Strong knowledge of logistics, inventory management, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
Proven track record of implementing successful process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and lead in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
Proficiency in logistics software, warehouse automation, and data analytics.
Physical Requirements:The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds will be done using team lift. Must meet physical lifting requirements of 50 lbs.
