About this Role:
The role of the DUI Section Chief is to assist the Staff Services Manager III (SSM III), with planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Licensing & Certification Division's (LCD) Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Licensing Section. Under the general direction of the SSM III, the SSM II is responsible for program planning, direction, administration, and management of all activities related to the individual units within the Section. LCD is a part of the comprehensive health care system provided to the segment of California's population that is in need of assistance, care and compliance with their efforts in addressing behavioral health needs. LCD ensures that facilities and counselors are operating under proper licenses and complying with laws. In the absence of the SSM III, the SSM II serves as the substance use disorder compliance policy advisor to the LCD Chief. Up to 30% overnight, statewide travel by train, airplane, automobile, and other forms of transportation is required. Light to moderate overnight travel may take up a week at a time, and up to several weeks per month. Successful candidates will work both in-house and be provided with telework options. Approved travel expenses are reimbursed .

Telework Information
This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in-person and site-based a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS' Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 - 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
