Head of HR Governance
will provide strategic leadership to design, implement, and manage governance, policy, and employee relations frameworks across all HR functions globally. This role is essential in establishing and maintaining key policies that align with Sompo’s global business objectives and diverse regulatory environments, ensuring scalable, compliant practices that support the company’s growth. With a focus on fostering ethical decision-making and operational consistency across regions, the Head of HR Governance will ensure clear accountability while respecting local nuances. Leveraging data-driven insights, they will continuously enhance governance structures and policies to meet the evolving needs of Sompo’s global operations.Location:

Lead the design, evolution, and oversight of a global HR governance framework , ensuring the development, implementation, and maintenance of key policies, practices, and procedures that are consistent, scalable, and compliant across all regions. Identify areas for policy enhancement and create new frameworks to support business growth and regulatory changes.Ensure clear accountability, controls, and reporting mechanisms
by collaborating with global HR teams, legal departments, and senior leadership to establish and maintain governance structures. Align these structures with both local and global standards to support effective decision-making and promote best practices in HR governance and risk management.Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance systems
to meet international and local labor laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Proactively identify risks related to employee relations, policy enforcement, and regulatory shifts, and provide mitigation strategies to ensure continuous compliance.Establish and maintain key HR policies
that drive a culture of ethical behavior and decision-making across the organization. Ensure alignment with all applicable laws, regulations, local requirements, and company policies.Provide education and guidance on HR governance and compliance
to global HR teams, ensuring key policies are consistently understood and applied. Collaborate to align governance frameworks with talent management, compensation, and benefits, learning and development, and workforce planning initiatives. Work to harmonize policies across regions while adapting to local cultural and regulatory differences.Spearhead the development and maintenance of a strong employee relations function , establishing key policies that ensure a fair, consistent, and legally sound approach to employee issues. Ensure HR practices comply with relevant laws and regulations in all operating regions.Utilize HR data and analytics
to assess the effectiveness of governance practices, track compliance with key policies, and inform policy changes. Ensure that data-driven insights lead to proactive adjustments to governance and policy frameworks in response to emerging trends.What you’ll bring:
Extensive knowledge in HR & Corporate governance, operational HR, employment law, employee relations and an understanding of the insurance industry.Experience collaboration and working with stakeholders at all levels of HR, Audit, Risk and Legal functions.GDPR knowledge with the ability to translate data legislation into HR practices and ways of working.Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Law, or related field. Advanced degree (MBA or Masters) preferred.Minimum of 15 years of experience in HR governance, compliance, or related roles, with at least 7 years in a leadership position. Experience in the insurance industry is highly desirable.Strong communication skills, experience of liaising with and influencing senior stakeholders.Salary Range:
$210,000 - $300,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success. This is why we offer competitive, high-quality compensation and benefit programs to eligible employees.Our compensation program is built on a foundation that promotes a pay-for-performance culture, resulting in higher incentive awards, on average, when the Company does well and lower incentive awards when the Company underperforms.
