Be the subject matter expert in Disaster Case Management, an essential function of disaster services efforts throughout the Catholic Charities network. Liaise with fellow Disaster Case Managers at the local agency level to identify knowledge and training gaps, current challenges in service delivery, and changes to state or federal guidelines. Update current trainings, develop new trainings, as needed, and conduct trainings, when requested. Manage the Disaster Case Management cadre in conjunction with fellow Disaster Operations staff. The Vice President, Disaster Operations will be the primary supervisor.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Disaster Case Management Director is the lead CCUSA staff member for all Disaster Case Management-related activities. This person is responsible for keeping CCUSA and the Catholic Charities network up-to-date on the latest developments in Disaster Case Management through partner organizations, federal and state governments, and academic institutions. The Director will edit and/or develop the CCUSA Disaster Case Management and Disaster Case Work trainings and other related materials, as well as lead training efforts when required.This position is also responsible for managing the Disaster Case Management Cadre from application through use in agency assistance programs. When a disaster-affected agency requests Disaster Case Work or Disaster Case Management assistance, the Director will manage the process of identifying cadre members able to help either virtually or in-person, as requested by the local agency; prepare identified cadre members for the specific assignment; work with local agency staff to set up the assistance program; oversee teams, as needed. If an agency requests CCUSA assistance in applying for a Federal Disaster Case Management Program, this position will be responsible for providing their expertise in that endeavor.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEmbrace CCUSA’s values and the behaviors that support the values.Strong written and oral communication skills.Respond in a timely manner to management requests for information.Strong internal and external relationship building skills.Adaptable to a variety of database software systems.Solid organizational and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.Ability to exercise sound judgment and to make timely, value-based decisions.Proven ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.Ability to excel in fast-paced, changing, and challenging environments.Educational & ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.Minimum of five years of experience in a non-profit, association, or related industry.Minimum of five years of experience in Disaster Case Management.Experience managing a Federal Disaster Case Management Program, a plus.Additional InformationThis position is located in Alexandria, VA.This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending, and repetitive lifting of minimal weight.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key components and primary responsibilities.This position may require regular travel to Catholic Charities agencies, a minimum of one 3-day trip every other month, with travel upwards of 40% as required by disaster-related activities and events.Catholic Charities USA recruits only for positions that are included on this careers page.
