The Director, Warehouse Operations is accountable for effectively managing US warehousing operations to include receiving, shipping, transfers, inventory control, labor management, and safeguarding Brother assets. The position is accountable for the Warehouse Operations budget to control costs and reduce expenditures without compromising the operation’s capabilities to service customers. The Director, Warehouse Operations is accountable for the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives that will enable operational efficiencies across all warehouses to improve customer satisfaction and savings. This position creates an environment of collaboration and respect among various departments such as Finance, Information Technology (IT), and Transportation to drive overall supply chain excellence throughout the delivery process.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR THIS ROLE
Operations Management
Oversee daily warehouse operations within the Brother distribution network (East Coast, West Coast, Tennessee, etc.)
Drive improvement through collaboration and analysis; support manufacturing, channel partners, and end-users
Monitor all warehousing operations in designated external warehouses while utilizing best practices
Ensure shipment compliance including the quality, timing, and accurate delivery of products
Drive performance results through the management of the third-party logistics provider
Provide direction, leadership, and guidance to leadership staff and monitor the efficiency, knowledge, and skill sets of the staff and provide the necessary guidance, training, coaching, feedback, and appraisal as necessary
Create an environment of collaboration, innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
Foster inventory strategies that deliver improvements in productivity, quality, and cost
Identify the best way to ensure correct inventory management by creating a robust repeatable process including the latest technology
Develop, direct, and manage overall improvement targets and oversee execution of initiatives
Work closely with the Supply Chain Planning team to guarantee “hot items” are available at the Warehouse to satisfy customer demand
Work closely with the Inbound / Outbound Transportation teams to guarantee “hot containers” and/or “hot orders” are managed by aligned Customer Service Levels Agreements
Strategic Direction
Develop an overall plan from the current state to the future state that meets business and customer requirements for best-in-class service for inventory, warehousing operations, and delivery
Assess current and future operational risks locally, and translate those into strategies, capabilities, best practices, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Develop and deploy inventory and operations performance standards that support and align with company strategy and customer expectations across the distribution network
Develop a continuous improvement approach across the warehouse operations organization to challenge the operational “status quo” and optimize operational cost and service
Partner with the HR, IT, Procurement, and Financial teams to address open issues and develop best-in-class cross-functional practices, processes, metrics, and reports for the warehouse operations area
Work closely with the Supply Chain Planning team to plan for future warehouse space for efficient utilization to minimize expenses
Work closely with the Inbound / Outbound Transportation teams to develop joint plans to improve customer service levels and operational costs
Work closely with the order management team to define “Total Order Cycle” optimization initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and operational costs
Provider and Vendor Management
Conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews (MBR & QBR) with all 3rd party providers to ensure consistent Service Levels are met and business and customer needs are addressed
Partner with the procurement organization to manage vendor relationships and pricing agreements for warehousing services
Ensure business and customer service commitments are being upheld and address deficiencies accordingly
Develop a continuous improvement approach with all 3rd party providers to maximize customer service levels and optimize operational costs
Manage leasing of available space and ensure warehouse facilities are maintained to support shipping and Customer Service
Management of Departmental Financial Responsibilities
Create the annual divisional budget
Partner with Finance to perform Monthly budget analysis for all Warehouse Operational costs and develop bridge plans to stay within the budget requirements while still maintaining the required Business and Customer service levels
Continually identify opportunities for improvement, quality, cost, and service
Develop Monthly Warehouse Operations Risk & Opportunities based on operational efficiencies/inefficiencies
Partner with the Finance team to identify and track the financial impacts of continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure that all warehouse operations financial functions are accurate, timely, and meet all established JSOX and financial policies
Track, analyze, and report warehouse and 3PL labor costs and develop corrective actions if not achieving targets

Experience
Minimum 12 years Required Managing a high-volume distribution center including extensive inventory control experience.
Minimum 12 years Required Managing onsite 3PL vendor relationships and performance metrics.

The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $160,000.00-$180,000.00 per year.
Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data.
This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives.
