The UCLA Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health is undertaking a search for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Epidemiology.This is a state-funded tenure-track position with a 9-month appointment. We seek an outstanding candidate with demonstrated success and dedication to research, teaching, and training the next generation of epidemiologists. Research with an emphasis in epidemiology methodology would be welcomed in areas such as, but not limited to, risk modeling & prediction, causal inference, and big data analyses. The specialty areas can be in either epidemiology of infectious diseases or non-communicable diseases.Candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, DrPH or equivalent) in Epidemiology, Public Health, Population Health Sciences, or a related field, a strong track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications, experience teaching and training undergraduate and graduate students, and a commitment to epidemiology and public health. The candidate is expected to bring or develop a successful externally-funded research program in their specialty area. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in innovative and productive research that will enable them to become a recognized scholar in epidemiology methodology.Since its inception, the UCLA Department of Epidemiology has established itself as a leader in epidemiologic theory and methods, applied epidemiology, and public health. The Department also has strong research and training relationships with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health as well as with national and international institutions. The Fielding School of Public Health is located on the main UCLA campus in direct proximity to the other health sciences and professional schools (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and the College of Letters and Science) offering shared resources.
