Since our founding in 1985, New Economics For Women (NEW) has maintained that economic stability and mobility is a fundamental human right. Over the last 35+ years, NEW has addressed this complex system of barriers, and continues to deliver on its mission to spark economic mobility through wealth creation programs, services, housing, education, entrepreneurship and advocacy for economic justice. As of 2021, NEW has evolved to annually serve nearly 17,000 people and has developed over 1,600 units of affordable housing across 15 housing developments, built and rehabilitated 110 affordable single-family homes, built more than 200,000 square feet of community, public school and health clinic space, and created two high-performing charter elementary schools.
