JOB DESCRIPTION
Regal Boats is seeking a self-motivated Product Compliance Specialist to ensure our product documentation meets industry standards and regulations. Working with the Engineering Team, this role develops and maintains essential technical documentation, including manuals, safety protocols, and compliance reports. Ideal candidates have strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of marine industry standards such as ABYC and USCG.
Key Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Write owner’s manuals for new products and amend existing manuals based on constant product improvements Schedule & conduct inspections with compliance bodies to ensure new and existing models are compliant with relevant standards Perform testing in accordance with ABYC requirements to submit results with inspection reports Monitor regulatory and compliance developments in the industry and communicate impacts to appropriate teams/individuals Compile and maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation needed for domestic and international certifications Perform internal audits and walkthroughs of products to ensure product compliance with internal and external standards Identify the needs of production teams for new and existing work standards and ensure written documentation is current and accurate Conduct training with manufacturing teams to allow smooth introductions of compliance-related production changes Represent the company to outside organizations in a professional manner
Required Qualifications
Experience in the marine industry, preferably in recreational marine manufacturing Experience with compliance management or technical writing, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment Strong organizational and time management skills Attention to detail Willingness to work independently and with others Ability to solve problems and provide solutions Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with production staff and engineers Physical ability to walk significant distances within the factory (approximately one mile or more per day) Ability to handle loud noises, dust, and fumes in certain areas of the production environment (particle masks and other PPE required) Preferred Qualifications
Passion for boating and being on the water Familiarity with ABYC, USCG, ISO and other international standards relevant to the recreational marine industry Proficiency in design documentation software like InDesign. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Rhino 7, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions, normal office environments or factory environments that are not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb ladders and scaffolding, balance him/herself inside of hulls, decks, or small parts with sloped/irregular surfaces, handle loud noises and some dust/fumes (particle masks required), walk approximately one mile or more per day without problem. Must be able to climb inside, on top of and around boats in prototype and production. Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves and protective garments. Employees in safety-sensitive positions must report to work fit for duty and must remain fit for duty throughout their work day. To be fit for duty, the employee must not be impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or medication.
