he Opportunity:
The SSI Specialist (SHPC2) provides case management and comprehensive assessment for SSI and SSA Disability benefits to eligible children in the State of Washington. You will partner with parents, foster parents, relatives, kin, tribes and communities to work with clients of CPS, CFWS, FRS, ICW regarding Supplemental Security Income SSI (Title XVI) and SSA Disability (Title II) eligibility. SSI Specialists apply for SSI and SSA Disability benefits and coordinate use of funds for children and youth with special needs.
Some of what you will do:Complete SSI and SSA Disability applications for children potentially eligible for benefits.Maintain a caseload of children for which SSI and SSA Disability benefits applications are being pursued.Complete comprehensive functional assessments by interviewing foster parents and other professionals (educators, medical providers, therapists, case workers, etc.) regarding the day-to-day functioning of a child.Meet performance expectations to complete all application documents within timelines, monitor claims throughout the adjudication process and file reconsideration appeals for denied SSI claims.Complete payee change applications for SSI and SSA Disability benefits.Perform post-entitlement work for SSI and SSA Disability benefits including Continuing Disability Reviews (CDRs), Adult Continuing Disability Reviews (CDRs), student statements, Continuing Disability Benefits (CDB), Financial Redeterminations (RZs), and reporting changes in circumstances required by The Social Security Administration as representative payee.Maintain accurate client electronic records, notices, correspondence, and required documentation with in FamLink and Imaging.Collaborate with Social Service Specialists, providers, and others on recommended services relating to SSI and SSA Disability benefits.Attend and provide consultation in multidisciplinary staffings including FTDMs, BRS, DDS staffings, 17.5 staffings, adoption staffings.Coordination with IV-E Specialists, SSI Program Staff, Fiduciaries, Trust Funds Staff, Adoption Support Staff as well as SSA, DDS, Public Schools on SSI and SSA Disability issues.Required qualifications:
Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling seven years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.

One year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 1.
OR
A Bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field; and three years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
OR
A Master's degree or higher in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field, and two years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
A degree in Social Work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Vacation (Annual Leave)Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Full-time employees who are in pay status for less than 80 nonovertime hours in a month do not earn a monthly accrual of vacation leave.
Part-time employees accrue vacation leave hours in accordance with (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment.
Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.
As provided in , an employer may authorize a lump-sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Vacation leave accrual rates may only be accelerated using the rates established WAC 357-31-165.
Note:
Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for
exempt
employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave.
Military LeaveWashington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.
Bereavement LeaveMost employees whose family member or household member dies, are entitled to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave. In addition, the employer may approve other available leave types for the purpose of bereavement leave.
