Description of Work

This position is one of eight claims processing positions assigned to the DSB/DVRS/DSDHH Claims Processing Unit. The positions in this unit are responsible for the screening and processing of payment requests from vendors and providers of services to eligible recipients of services of the public assistance programs in DSB, DVRS, and DSDHH. This position is expected to perform independent within established procedures and regulations and receive general instructions on methods of work.

This position requires:

Working experience with general and/or cost accounting principles, NC government accounting processes, and accounts payable.Proven ability to interpret policies and procedures.Proven ability to work and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.Understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, Third Party Billing, and NCTracks rules.Proven ability to interpret third party billing and payments.Demonstrated knowledge of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases (ICD10 codes), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes.Proven ability to read, interpret and apply legislation requirementsAbout DHHS Office of the Controller:The Office of the Controller sets and interprets all accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures for the Department as authorized by the rules and regulations of the Office of the State Controller and state statutes and executes all accounting transactions for DHHS.
