Job Description

This claims analyst position requires a basic understanding of property and casualty claims, both primary insurance and reinsurance claim handling experience preferred. The candidate will have the ability to independently handle a volume of lower value less complex reinsurance claims and be able to recognize claim issues which require escalation to claim experts or management. The ideal candidate will also have familiarity with reinsurance terms and concepts. The position is an integral part of SCOR's client focused initiative and requires not only a certain level of claim expertise but the ability to deliver excellent customer service to stakeholders and clients both internal and external to SCOR. A claims analyst will have assigned accounts and manage claims emanating from those accounts. He/she will communicate regularly with internal staff (i.e., claim experts, management, accounting, underwriters, etc.) and externally with brokers and clients. The claims analyst will also be involved in projects/initiatives commensurate with his/her interests and abilities as it relates to claim and/or claims operations. The position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Treaty Claims housed in Chicago. Limited travel required.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage a portfolio of claims related to reinsurance P&C accounts which entails:Previewing all incoming mail on assigned accounts to determine financial impactCreating, closing and/or following up on all claims assigned, both manually and electronicallyCollaborating and assisting in the account management of assigned accounts, often with other internal department representativesTransacting on assigned claims within his/her authorityRecognizing and referring all claims which require further review by others within the claim departmentAnticipating client needs and expectations and delivering superior customer serviceWorking effectively with others within the claim department, particularly with other claim experts and analysts, to ensure prompt turnaround and response to clientsParticipating in projects as requiredMember of the following committees: e.g. Audit committee, Investment Committee etc.

Americas Claim Department TeamQualifications

The candidate should have at least 3 to 10 years of combined insurance/reinsurance property and casualty claim handling experience; varying levels of expertise and experience will be considered.College degree preferredPost-graduate degree and/or industry certification/designation a plus.Competency with claim handling systems, Microsoft Office suite and basic office management systems and procedures required.Familiarity with claims emanating from standard lines of business (i.e., auto and general liability, property, workers compensation, etc.); experience in dealing with other types of claim's a plus (i.e., credit & surety, professional liability, etc.).Compensation is commensurate with experience.Personal Competences:

Proven ability to act as part of a team yet dependable enough to operate independently when required.Flexibility and adaptability required in order to manage volume.Good verbal and written communication skills.Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and set priorities.Comfort level with technology.Interest in further skill development through on-the-job experience and training.Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.

"In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $80,000-90,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off."
