The OT will offer effective and client-centered services that will enable consumers to confidently and independently carry out everyday tasks or activities.Essential Duties and FunctionsAddress consumer's aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being and life qualitySelect and adapt the appropriate per case occupational therapy treatment model, method and approach to direct the process of interventionsApply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL)Teach consumers new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable componentsAssess consumer's home and other environments and advise on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilitiesRecommend adaptive equipment and train in its use as neededGuide and educate family members and caregiversObserve, note, and report on progress of long and short term treatment goalsCollect data and document processes followedEssential Duties AddendumQualificationsPossession of an Bachelor's level degree in Occupational Therapy.3 years of clinical experience required; experience with adults with Intellectual Disabilities preferred; experience as a fieldwork educator preferred.Evidence of active certification and State licensure.Evaluation, treatment planning and intervention skills related to the developmentally disabled population.Skills related to supervising, evaluating and educating occupational therapy fieldwork students.Administrative competencies required for managing a student fieldwork program.Consultation skills.Knowledge of the impact of trauma on the well-being of the individuals supported within the program, as well as the impact on staff well-being, preferred.Working conditionsHazard and Atmospheric ConditionsExposure to FumesExposure to DustExposure to Extreme HeatExposure to Extreme ColdWet and/or HumidExposure to Loud NoiseExposure to Confined PlacesMists or GasesExposure to Mechanical HazardsExposure to Chemical HazardsExposure to Electrical HazardsExposure to Burn HazardAdditional Special Working Conditions:RequirementsPhysical requirementsLifting RequirementsMedium: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Physical RequirementsStand or Sit (stationary position)WalkUse hands or fingers to handle or feel (operate, activate, prepare, inspect, position)Climb (stairs/ladders)Talk/Hear (communicate, converse, convey, express/exchange information)See (detect, identify, recognize, inspect, assess)Pushing or pullingRepetitive MotionReaching (high or low)Kneel, Stoop, Crouch or Crawl (position self, move)Additional Requirements:Reporting RelationshipsDirect Supervisor: Clinical Manager.Directly Supervises: Occupational Therapist students from Thomas Jefferson University.Resources for Human Development is an equal opportunity employer.
