Computer Aided Design Drafter

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drafter to join our team within the utility sector. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AutoCAD and GIS software, ensuring accurate and efficient drafting support for utility projects related to the transmission of electrical power.

As part of our dynamic team, you will work closely with engineers and project managers to prepare detailed technical drawings and plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed transmission system designs, schematics, and drawings using AutoCAD.
• Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to incorporate geospatial data into designs.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure accuracy and efficiency in drafting tasks.
• Interpret field data, maps, and specifications for design purposes.
• Ensure all drawings are compliant with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
• Maintain and update records of all design modifications and revisions.
• Assist in preparing as-built drawings and other necessary documentation after project completion.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Drafter, preferably within the utility or electrical transmission sector.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
• Hands-on experience with GIS software and the ability to integrate GIS data into AutoCAD drawings.
• Strong understanding of electrical transmission systems, utility standards, and industry codes.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality, accurate work.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with specific GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or other utility-specific software.
• Knowledge of local and national utility regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Education:

• Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
