Akkodis is seeking an contract to hire Data Manager with a client located in Dallas, Texas. The Data Manager will oversee the implementation of data policies, ensure compliance, and design the data architecture. This role requires a hands-on approach, with the opportunity to grow into policy and leadership responsibilities. Initially, there will be no direct people management, but the role will evolve to include building and managing a team. Daily tasks involve critical thinking, troubleshooting, and managing data operations and governance.

Salary Range: 100k to 105k

Data Manager job responsibilities include:

  • Implement and enforce data policies, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards (HERPA, HIPAA, GLBA).
  • Design and manage data architecture, building and maintaining data storage across multiple platforms.
  • Manage regular data operations, troubleshooting, and governance processes.
  • Define and maintain data lineage and ensure accurate data flow throughout the organization.
  • Work with security and databases, including custom-written code across multiple databases.
  • Manage and optimize databases using Oracle SQL, SQL Server, Oracle Cloud, and data warehouse solutions.
  • Execute data governance strategies and policies, ensuring alignment with best practices and standards.
  • Oversee and integrate ETL processes using SAS integration tools.
  • Provide analytics and reporting solutions to support organizational goals.
  • Stay informed about and implement data policy standards, ensuring all systems and processes are compliant.
  • Lead and manage data-related projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Database Administration, Data Management, Data Engineering/Architecture, and Data Governance.
  • Proficiency in Oracle SQL, SQL Server, and Oracle Cloud Data Warehousing.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL SAS integration tools.
  • Strong knowledge of security standards for databases and data governance.
  • Expertise in data policy standards and regulatory compliance (HERPA, HIPAA, GLBA).
  • Ability to define and manage data lineage and data flow processes.
  • Experience with analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven project management capabilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms, specifically Oracle Cloud or Azure.
  • Familiarity with modern data management tools and practices.
  • Knowledge of data engineering and database security best practices.

Soft Skills:

  • Self-starter with a strong ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead teams, with potential to manage a team in the future.
