General Description: Arora Engineers, Inc. provides design and construction services forMEP, fire protection and alarms, and low voltage/special systems for aviation, transportation, educational, commercial, and institutional facilities.
Overall Responsibility: The Electrical Designer shall be engaged in projects involving, but not limited to, the design of facility related electrical distribution systems, interior and exterior lighting, and emergency backup systems. They will participate in project teams to undertake the design and delivery of services related to design and construction of electrical systems, as well as the overall project. This position shall be responsible to the Electrical Practice Lead and various project managers of the projects they are working on.
Essential Functions:
- Functions as Electrical Designer on assignments with electrical design scope and other disciplines.
- Participates in the design development of electrical work including technical drawings and specifications from schematic design to completion.
- Ensures coordinated design on projects. Coordination will be required with in-house team members (mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and alarm, and special systems) and third-party designers (architects, civil, structural engineers, etc.).
- Able to provide advisory information during the construction phase.
- Performs site surveys including survey of existing conditions and site observations during construction.
- Participates in the monitoring of project production and schedules to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Participates and ensures the quality of the work produced maintains high standards.
- Participates in internal and external project meetings on a regular basis.
- Attends and contributes to electrical team meetings, internal project meetings, and external meetings with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Client-facing liaison between owners, clients, prime contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Assures Arora’s electrical and BIM standards are followed. Assures client’s design standards are met.
- Ensures project design and construction issues are addressed and resolved to the benefit and satisfaction of the owner/client.
Secondary Functions:
- Related duties as assigned by the Electrical Practice Lead.
- Supports applicable requests as needed.
- Lends support to all business areas outside of electrical focus as needed.
Needed Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Working experience with (or ability to learn within three months of hire): AGI32.
- Working experience and/or ability to learn and become capable in applying codes specific to area of expertise.
- Good communications skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Detail and safety-oriented.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or other related field. Five to ten year’s experience in a technical capacity reflecting increasing responsibility.
- Ability to drive and maintain a safe driving record.
- Valid state driver’s license (any in US).
- In possession of appropriate paperwork to gain and maintain employment in the US.
- Ability to meet worksite security requirements including criminal background checks and TSA threat assessment evaluations.
