Role Description

The Finance and Operations Manager is a full-time, in-person employee responsible for managing financial and operational systems, processes, and internal controls. The position’s primary goal is to ensure the day-to-day business and financial operations run effectively and efficiently. The individual must be willing to get their hands dirty and have a “whatever it takes” attitude and approach to the work.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the business finances including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with other members of the management team to develop financial plans and targets.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, providing insights and recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure the timely completion of audits and tax filings.
  • Communicate appropriate financial information to all stakeholders, including the board of directors, lenders, and insurance carriers.
  • Provide financial leadership and support, assisting with strategic decision-making and business planning.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.

Operations Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the business including but not limited to inventory planning and buying, and warehouse operations.
  • Implement efficient processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
  • Track and organize inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock availability while minimizing stock outs or excess inventory levels
  • Collaborate with other departments such as marketing and customer support to ensure cross-functional synergy across the business

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably with e-commerce and/or retail experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks). 
  • Exposure to e-commerce technologies like Shopify is a plus.
  • Past management of direct report employees.
