Job Title: Sustainability Manager, Infrastructure
Location: San Jose, CA (Preferred), Seattle, WA, Phoenix, AZ, or Houston, TX
Remote/In-Office: Will be in the office, for 3 days and 2 days remote
Duration: 12+ month extendable contract
Position Overview:
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Manager to support the infrastructure team with a primary focus on data center sustainability and reporting. This role will be responsible for compiling, analyzing, and reporting sustainability metrics for infrastructure projects, specifically for data center rack deployments. This includes detailed tracking of components, parts, and materials used, aligned with corporate and regulatory sustainability goals. The Sustainability Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams at LinkedIn and report on metrics to Microsoft and other major accounts.
Qualifications:
- Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Sustainability Management, particularly within the tech or data center industry.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools, data analytics software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with sustainability reporting standards like GRI, SASB, and CDP.
- Soft Skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams and understandably present complex information.
- Certifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, CEM, or sustainability reporting certifications) are a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sustainability Reporting & Metrics
- Lead the development of detailed sustainability reports, with a focus on data center rack deployments, materials tracking, and components inventory. Ensure all metrics align with companies and Microsoft’s sustainability commitments and standards.
- Data Collection & Analysis
- Oversee data collection processes, including resource use, emissions, and waste from infrastructure and data center operations. Analyze data trends to provide actionable insights for sustainability improvements.
- Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with team and Microsoft teams, including Engineering, Procurement, Facilities, and Compliance, to obtain necessary information and ensure alignment with broader corporate sustainability goals.
- Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all reporting adheres to regulatory requirements and international sustainability standards (e.g., GRI, CDP). Stay current with changes in sustainability reporting standards and incorporate best practices into reporting processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the key point of contact for sustainability metrics reporting for Microsoft and other major accounts. Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and other materials as required for account-specific sustainability discussions.
- Continuous Improvement
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve the company's sustainability performance across data centers and infrastructure. Support initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of the company’s infrastructure, including circular economy approaches, energy efficiency, and sustainable materials sourcing.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field is a plus
