Senior Construction Project Manager

Overview:

The Project Manager position is fully accountable for the financial performance of the project and overall management direction for one or more multi-million-dollar heavy civil construction projects. The Project Manager has authority over major decisions related to project plan and implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position will require frequent travel around Texas; therefore, residence can be anywhere in the Texas region.
  • Plan, formulate civil construction projects according to project requirements and engineering standards.
  • Ensure overall project quality control, including review of project designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Prepare analytical reports for presentation to upper management.
  • Collaborate with field management to ensure successful resolution of issues between the project plan and site execution on an ongoing basis.
  • Approve all equipment, personnel changes, and requisitions prepared and submitted by superintendents.
  • Appropriately execute final authority over issue resolution related to project plan and implementation.
  • Demonstrate understanding of when to elevate issues and communicate to upper management.
  • Plan and organize project staff according to project requirements, including assigning proper personnel to specific projects or components of projects.
  • Develop and effectively manage against project budget to ensure project meets projected/required margins.
  • Ensure the accuracy of weekly Viewpoint labor, equipment reports and monthly cost reports.
  • Conduct and document ongoing financial projections of project performance throughout project life.
  • Submit accurate, timely cost and income projections for project, and payment requisitions.
  • Appropriately act on changes in project margins and budget variances to ensure project profitability.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of contract terms and specifications.
  • Act as Thalle' s representative with owners and owner's engineers at project meetings.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate communication of time extensions and delays to the owner in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Protect Thalle' s interests, minimize conflicts, and professionally resolve issues.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of project schedule, key project milestones, and reasons for delays.
  • Identify competent subcontractors and suppliers for projects by comparing and evaluating them based on price, scope, schedule, terms, qualifications, and history with Thalle.
  • Oversee the issuance of subcontracts and supplier purchase orders.
  • Ensure incident and injury free protocols are followed, and behaviors and culture are instilled at all levels.
  • Liaison and point of contact for multiple governmental agencies, Thalle and subcontractors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or another Technical Field or equivalent experience.
  • Professional license, certifications and contractor’s licenses.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in Heavy Civil Construction.
  • Strong computer skills, including Primavera, Viewpoint, HCSS Heavy Bid, and P6.
  • 30-hour OSHA construction safety course within the last five years or equivalent training.
  • Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within the business and externally.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
