Job Description:Fairfield University, Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, invites applications for a full-time MPH Program Director and tenure-track public health faculty position beginning in Fall 2025 pending final budget approval. The Egan School seeks to inspire students to become leaders across social and healthcare environments who improve health outcomes for all, inclusive of underserved or vulnerable populations. The Egan School’s Public Health Program offers an online/asynchronous generalist-track Master of Public Health (MPH). The MPH program aims to prepare students to address health inequity as “change agents” who can lead and advocate for improved health conditions worldwide. The Director of the MPH program is responsible for creating a shared multi-year programmatic vision in coordination with key partners and for planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating the MPH curriculum. The Program Director will possess overall, year-round responsibility for the MPH program and will receive release time and a stipend commensurate with the responsibilities of program administration. The Program Director will report directly to the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and the Public Health Program Director. The Program Director’s responsibilities must include, but are not limited to:

Providing or delegating duties to ensure year-round director coverage.

Developing and implementing policies and procedures to manage program components and ensure fair treatment of students.

Participating in student recruitment and retention activities.

Communicating regularly with admitted students and providing necessary guidance, evaluation, and counseling.

Mentoring adjunct faculty and preceptors.

Identifying and managing applied practice experience and integrated learning experience sites.

Communicating regularly with applied practice experience and integrated learning experience preceptors to review program expectations and collaborate on student performance evaluation.

Conducting an annual review of program outcomes, including student enrollment; curriculum revisions; practice site experiences; and student, faculty, and staff needs.

Analyzing program data, sharing with institutional representatives, and using data for school planning.

Chairing select Public Health Program committee(s).

Maintaining program accreditation requirements as required by CEPH.

We are particularly interested in scholar-educators with expertise in health education and promotion; implementation and evaluation science; and/or leadership, management, and policy, especially those with experience in public health practice. The teaching load is 6 credits each semester, which includes a course release each Fall and Spring semester. In addition to teaching, faculty are also expected to engage in research and service, contribute to the public health profession, and advance the scholarship and service missions of the department, school, and university. While the faculty member will be teaching online, they are expected to be local to Fairfield to participate in on-campus events, meetings, and other student- and service-related activities.

Requirements:

Hold a doctoral degree in public health or a related discipline.

Have effective verbal and written communication skills.

Be prepared to teach online, asynchronous courses at the graduate level.

Be prepared to enrich the MPH curriculum in applications of public health practice.

Be innovative in curricular development and demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation in online teaching.

Have an active research program and be engaged in scholarship that includes a record of publishing in peer-reviewed publications in the candidate's area of specialization.

Demonstrate a commitment to promoting justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (JEDIB).

Additionally, preference will be given to applicants who have:

Experience in academic program administration.

Knowledge of CEPH accreditation requirements.
