Reporting to Department Administrator Supervisor this position provides administrative support to the RBS: Finance and Economics Department. The vision of the Department of Finance & Economics is to attract, build, and maintain a first-class faculty dedicated to the ideals of committed teaching and world-class research, and to develop and support areas of expertise within the faculty. Our department provides access to an outstanding education and other knowledge-based services to a diverse set of students and constituencies. Our faculty employs the rigor of the scientific method to develop theoretical and empirical insights into financial and managerial processes and communicate its discoveries to its peers through the most prestigious publication outlets in these fields. In addition, our faculty members have prominently appeared in national and regional media outlets expressing their viewpoints on important business issues.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:

Independently organizes and coordinates daily unit operations in Newark, and as needed for New Brunswick colleaguesOversees the Newark operations of the department including providing coordination and administrative support to multiple tenure track, non-tenure track, full-time lecturers, part-time lecturers, and visiting scholars in their teaching, research, and service effortsProvides knowledgeable and competent support to the Department Administrator SupervisorCoordinates the administration of programs, projects, and/or processesPrioritizes and daily unit operations, resolves conflicts and issues, prepares, and implements administrative guidelines and procedures, and provides oversight and facilitationProvides routine and non-routine information and explanations to stakeholdersCreates informational materialsProvides general unit-supporting research, analysis, and proposal dataPrepares, processes, and controls records, statistics, reports, and documentsPerforms fiscal support functionsSchedules appointments; arranges and coordinates design and logistics for events and meetingsCompletes other work consistent with a broad understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the administrative, academic, and research unitsServes as a liaison within and outside the unit and neededWorks independently with few direct instructionsCarries out routine and non-routine tasks with occasional review of work outputs by supervisorPerforms professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management principles and practices and a good understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of unit administrationProvides troubleshooting to keep the department running smoothlyProvides support to seminar guest speakers and recruitment candidatesTravel amongst regional campuses may be required

Work ArrangementConsistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.Also requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in an administrative function, excellent communication and customer service skills, and computer literacy.Certifications/Licenses
