Position Overview:

Our client, a large manufacturing plant on the Southside of Chicago is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

HR Specialist

to join their team. This role will be instrumental in supporting and administering key HR processes, ensuring the smooth operation of employee-related functions, and fostering a positive work environment. The HR Specialist will work closely with both union and non-union employees to address a variety of HR-related tasks and support employee engagement initiatives.Great work life balance and lots of room for growth!

Key Responsibilities:

Perform data entry into HRIS for new hires, employee changes, leaves of absence, and terminations.Review and validate timecards, ensuring accurate timekeeping before payroll processing.Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.Guide employees through the annual benefits open enrollment process.Facilitate new hire orientation and assist with the onboarding process.Recruit hourly employees, manage relationships with staffing agencies, and assist with internal job promotions.Complete monthly and quarterly union reports.Track attendance, vacation, and time-off requests for plant employees.Coordinate employee engagement events and meetings to support a positive work culture.Coach employees and supervisors on attendance management and track compliance.Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree preferredExperience:

Minimum 2-3 years of prior HR experience required, with a preference for manufacturing experience.Skills:

Bilingual in Cantonese or Spanish is a plus.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels.Professionalism and respect for others at all times.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Ability to coach and mentor employees while maintaining a positive and compliant work environment.

Additional Information:
