Job Description:

Exciting Nursing Faculty and Academic Leadership Opportunity! This dynamic, fast-paced role offers the unique opportunity to lead a new accelerated one-year track designed specifically for experienced LPNs, paramedics, and top-tier military medics. As part of a high-functioning team, you will play an essential leadership role, ensuring the program's curriculum aligns with current standards, supports student success, and leverages simulation as a core teaching and learning methodology. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing and Coordinator of the Accelerated Nursing Program Option will meet the contractual job description as found in the MCCC Contract. The successful candidate will contribute to STCC's equity-driven mission and support the School of Health & Patient Simulation (SHPS) with its emphasis on preparing healthcare practitioners ready to contribute to the workforce. The Assistant Professor and Coordinator will align the Accelerated Nursing Program Option with college policies, Massachusetts Department of Higher Education standards, and rules and regulations set by accreditors. The Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator will foster relationships within the cooperating agencies and the community and maintain relationships and open lines of communication within the college. The Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator will also actively participate in faculty service to the college and maintain the standards of excellence established by SHPS. The Assistant Professor will be a team player and actively participate in the nursing areas outside of the clinical major as assigned by the Director of the Nursing Program. This is a tenure track position.

Supervision: Reports to the Assistant Dean/Director or Nursing, and Dean of the SHPS

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Assist in the development of the Nursing curriculum based on the recommendations of the Program's Curriculum Committee.* Actively participate in the Learning Resource Center and Patient Simulation Center, as assigned by the Director of Nursing.* Maintain open communication channels with the Clinical Coordinator, Lab Coordinator, Department Chair, and Director of Nursing concerning lab, clinical, and program needs .* Evaluate and record student progress.* Maintain records, as required by the Department, School and/or College.* Participate in guidance and counseling for students, meeting contractual obligations.* Represent the Director of the Nursing Program as requested.* Maintain membership and active engagement in professional nursing organizations.* Maintain and update professional and clinical competencies.* Promote and engage in inter-professional education.* Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, or the Dean of the SHPS.* Participate in college-wide faculty service.

Classroom:

* Work as a team member to deliver course content as outlined by the STCC Nursing Curriculum, competencies and student outcomes.* Teach lecture content as assigned by the Director of Nursing.* Evaluate and collaboratively select and order textbooks, as appropriate.* Prepare and post all student handouts to the course Blackboard site.* Prepare and evaluate all testing materials.* Understand, prepare, and manage the utilization of software and other technology that supports the program such as but not limited Examsoft, Kaplan, etc.* Grade all students' assignments, as appropriate.

Clinical:

* Instruct up to the approved maximum number of nursing students in each assigned clinical area.* Instruct two clinical groups each semester unless otherwise assigned by the Director of Nursing.* Select and assign patients for students, as appropriate.* Follow all policies and procedures of the Nursing Program and assigned agency(s).* Supervise, advise, and evaluate students' clinical practice.* Facilitate students' development of active learning and clinical reasoning.* Correct written assignments, as per curriculum.* Understand, prepare, and manage the utilization of software and other technology that supports the program such as but not limited Skyscape, I-Human etc.* Evaluate and record student progress.* Conduct pre- and post-conferences with students.* Maintain confidentiality in all school and student matters.* Complete a collaborative review with the Clinical Manager.* Communicate with the level coordinator/assigned mentor as needed.* Serve as a liaison between the program and clinical partners.* Work collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Education to secure clinical sites within the CCP or other process utilized via clinical contracts.

Learning Resource Center:

* Teach one nursing lab class (learning resource center and patient simulation) each semester unless otherwise assigned by the Director of Nursing.* Participate in student advising per contractual obligations.* Promote and engage in inter-professional education.* Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Professional:

* Maintain and update professional and clinical competencies.* Attend Nursing program orientation and ongoing education for clinical instructors.* Maintain competence in current computer technology.* Meet all required school and clinical contractual health requirements.* Orient to the assigned clinical facility/unit as requested.* Work, collaboratively, with members of the nursing and inter-professional team.* Attend monthly level meetings and other meetings as requested.* Act as a professional nursing role model to students.* Foster and maintain rapport with hospital/agency staff.* Inform the Clinical Coordinator and/or Director of Nursing of clinical needs.* Maintain records as required by the School and/or College.* Participate in guidance and counseling for students, meeting contractual obligations.* Relieve or represent the Director of the Nursing Program as requested.* Maintain membership and active engagement in professional nursing organizations and actively participate.* Maintain and update professional and clinical competencies.* Promote and engage in inter-professional education.* Participate in college-wide responsibilities and initiatives.* Development, implementation, and evaluation of policies.* Participation in systematic evaluation of all components of the program.* Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, or the Dean of the SHPS.

Coordinator:

* Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, or the Dean of the SHPS.* Oversee the implementation and evaluation of the accelerated day program.* Facilitate the integration of accelerated day program initiatives with the overall nursing program.* Coordinate curriculum with other faculty and professors leading the day and other program options.* Coordinate curriculum needs with the accelerated day program team.* Collect and report data to the nursing program full faculty committee and Assistant Dean of SHPS/Director of Nursing.* Ensure compliance with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and ACEN standards and complete associated data and reports.* Attend full faculty committee meetings, curriculum, evaluation committee meetings, and others as assigned by the Assistant Dean of SHPS/Director of Nursing.* Provide leadership in the continuous assessment and improvement of the accelerated day program.* Serve as a liaison between accelerated day program faculty, full faculty committee (all program options), and the Assistant Dean of SHPS/Director of Nursing.* Ensure the accelerated day program meets accreditation requirements and maintains high standards of quality.* Work hours will include day hours with some evening hours assigned.* Responsible for clinical coverage.* Responsible for lab coverage.* Assist with the recruiting of faculty and students.* Support of student cohort.

Requirements:

* Master's degree or higher in Nursing or the equivalent in a nursing-related discipline.* Minimum of 5 years nursing experience (required) and minimum of 2 years teaching experience (Community College level preferred).* Initial and continued employment dependent upon meeting COR/SORI, National Background Check, drug testing, and medical and immunization requirements, including fully completed COVID-19 Vaccination series.* Unencumbered license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of MA.* Preferred: Experience in both Nursing and as a Paramedic.

Additional Information:

Salary: MCCC Faculty (210 Day Contract). Traditional 160 Day schedule plus summer 1 and summer 2 nursing semesters. Base Salary $81,906 Column H, Interval 15) plus 50 Days = $107,501 annually.
