COMPENSATION: $16.00/hour
SUMMARY OF POSITION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position will require the assistant to prep lab activities, clean up after lab activities, and assistance conducting lab scenarios and related tasks that may come up. They may also be asked to assist, when able, with tour groups, or demonstrations. All of these will be things they will be trained on prior to assisting with.
Position Description & Details
* The assistant will set an appropriate schedule for themselves, so they are not interfering with their classes, but also to be of most benefit to the usefulness of the EMS lab. The assistant will fill out a bi-weekly calendar so faculty know when the assistant will be there. If there is to be any absences in those two weeks, the assistant should notify the program director 24 hours prior. The program director will also notify the assistant of upcoming special activities, such as tour groups, that they may desire the assistant to help with, within 1 week of that activity.* Once adequately instructed on tasks, they should take initiative each day they come in to work on completion of those tasks or beginning the next one.* They will do lab preparations for student labs, as well as cleanup for those labs sometimes so they must maintain adequate infection control practices.* On days there are tour groups, or the like, the assistant will be asked if they are available to come with and provide any assistance deemed needed. If they agree to come to any of those events, they should be on time and motivated to provide high quality results/experiences.* They will take regular account of stocked equipment and notify faculty if anything becomes low so it can be ordered in a timely fashion.* When working on any documents or copying, attention to detail is important due to the nature of the documents they may be assisting with.* Takes initiative if they see any projects that may need attention, by pointing them out to faculty and asking if they can work on that project. This includes any cleaning, sorting, organization, etc.* Flexibility, as it is in the EMS job field, is important and so is multitasking. The assistant must be ready to take on new and varying projects that may arise. They must also be able to multitask, as a set of projects may be given.* Maintains a positive attitude and effective communication. Questions should be asked if there is uncertainty.
Minimum Requirements
Required:
* Interest in health sciences as a career field.* Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated positive customer service skills, and ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds.* Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite, email and electronic calendar (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects.* Ability to work independently and handle interruptions.* Ability to lift to 50 pounds (essential function).
Preferred:
* Previous employment experience in a position >1 year.* Experience or Interest in Paramedic Technology as a career field.
