Position Description & Details

Are you passionate about retail and customer service? Do you thrive in a vibrant, fast-paced environment? If so, we want you to join our bookstore family! We're looking for a dedicated Bookstore Assistant to support our Bookstore Manager and help make our store a welcoming hub for students and faculty alike.

Monday - Friday, approximately 19 hours/weekKey Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:

Greet customers warmly as they enter the bookstore, providing exceptional service and answering questions over the phone.Public Relations:

Build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and customers, creating an inviting atmosphere.Monetary Management:

Handle cash securely and operate our point-of-sale system with accuracy.Order Processing:

Assist with online textbook and merchandise orders, including shipping and maintaining necessary supplies.Inventory and Merchandising:

Support the clothing and merchandise areas by managing inventory and creating attractive displays.Textbook Support:

Help maintain textbook inventory, manage faculty adoptions, and assist with rental and instant access programs.Receiving and Returns:

Assist with incoming merchandise and textbook shipments, processing returns, and handling accounts payable.Innovate and Improve:

Contribute your ideas for enhancing processes and functions within the department and across the college.Additional Duties:

Be prepared to tackle various tasks as needed to support the bookstore team.Minimum Requirements

Two years of retail experience.Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated positive customer service skills, and ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds.Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite, email, and electronic calendar (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple projects.Ability to work independently and handle interruptions.Ability to lift to 50 pounds (essential function).Preferred Qualifications

Retail or customer service experience.Experience in a college environment.Applicant Materials Required
