Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and manage the activities, staff and functions necessary to provide social services in an assigned region or district office and its satellites. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Social Services Manager V for one of two Rural Region Managers. The position location will be decided by the best candidate for the position. This Social Services Manager (SSM) V oversees and manages the implementation of child welfare services for the Elko District offices and Fallon District Office.The SSM V supervises service delivery provided by Rural Region Clinical Services, the Adoption Unit, the Quality Assurance Unit, and the Rural Region Programs Specialist. SSM V will ensure the goals of the Division are being met and that staff consistently meet performance and commitment requirements or agreements. Ensures all Rural Regional Child Welfare staff have current competency-based work performance standards and timely performance evaluations. The incumbent will lead in development and/or execution of plans to continually enhance performance, outcomes and image.The SSM V provides strong leadership to effectively plan, organize and deliver very high quality child welfare services that are child-centered and family-focused, with the needs of the child and family dictating the types and mix of services provided; community-based, with the focus of services as well as management and decision making responsibility resting at the community level, and competent with programs and services that are responsive to the populations they serve.The State of Nevada is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to building diverse, inclusive, and innovative work environments with employees who reflect our communities and enthusiastically serve them. Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public administration or related field and five years of progressively responsible experience implementing social service programs; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpreting and applying complex federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures and reports; conducting research and preparing recommendations for management. Two years of the experience must have been at a managerial level which included the supervision of subordinate supervisors; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Some positions require professional licensure or certification in a social or medical specialty issued by the appropriate licensing board in the State of Nevada, which will be identified at the time of recruitment. Incumbents must maintain professional licensure or certification in their specialty for continuing employment.The Examination
