Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Tax Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school, and active Bar membership in good standing. An LL.M. in Taxation is preferred. This role requires exceptional critical thinking skills, client relations abilities, and experience in handling complex federal and state tax matters from inception to completion. The candidate will provide tax compliance and consulting services across federal, state, local, and international tax planning and research.
Qualifications:
J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school; LL.M. in Taxation preferred.
Active member in good standing with the Bar.
5-10 years of progressive experience in federal, state, employment, and transactional tax with a reputable law firm or corporation.
Proven client management skills, with the ability to handle complex, sensitive tax matters effectively.
Demonstrated initiative, motivation, and ability to manage multiple matters concurrently with impeccable confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise clients on tax implications and strategies, particularly for mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets transactions.
Conduct in-depth research and analysis to offer sound legal tax advice.
Draft and review a range of tax-related legal documents, including opinions, memoranda, and agreements.
Work closely with clients and internal teams to develop effective tax strategies and solutions.
Manage multiple ongoing matters, meeting all deadlines and client expectations.
Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate, current legal advice.
Represent clients in negotiations and discussions with tax authorities and other stakeholders.
Skills Required:
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
In-depth knowledge of tax law and regulations
Proficiency in tools such as Lexis, Practical Law, VitalLaw, Checkpoint, and ATX.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong client service orientation.
High ethical standards and a passion for advocating for clients.
