Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise.

Join our busy orthopedic practice and become a part of a close-knit, collegial team that collaborates well to ensure quality and timely care for our patients. This position is focused on providing support to the acute-care orthopedic patients and receiving day-time calls. There is an opportunity to offer small amount of ambulatory clinic care though the focus will be on ensuring our orthopedic patients in the hospital are receiving great care ! This driven and growth-oriented team with multiple subspecialties consists of 5 physicians and 5 advanced practice clinicians working together to provide high-quality, patient-centric care.
1.0 FTE, full-time status
Mon-Fri daytime hospital and call coverage focused (orthopedic surgeon on-call 24hrs/day)
Opportunity to participate in evening and weekend call on a 1:4 basis
Small Mon-Fri clinic schedule dependent upon hospital and call workloads
Position involves patient care coordination, inpatient rounding and consults, and support of Orthopedic practice
Current OR support potential dependent on call-case acuity and support of department add-on surgical procedures
Potential for future partnership with newly hired surgeon (position currently posted) evolving into regular OR, call and clinical rotation
Potential for future leadership opportunities with a continued focus on strategic program growth and development
Preference for candidates with Orthopedic Surgery background/experience
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is assigned to Surgical Services for the purpose of providing patient care under the supervision of the attending physician(s) in accordance with the rules, regulations, bylaws of the Medical Staff Office with the following responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in surgery. Independently delivering clinical services to patients within the service’s line within the limits of their privileges. Complies with Essentia Health standards, policies and procedures, contributes to customer satisfaction, participates in quality assurance improvement, supports and participates in team approach to the delivery of patient care within the department, service line and hospital. Fiscally responsible for the level of care prescribed/delivered and the appropriate utilization of resources. Demonstrates the successful judgment and ability to service appropriate unique needs of various patient populations and age groups.
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, the NP/PA works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. NP/PAs provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nurse Practitioner or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Physician Assistant program from an accredited program/institution
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate states (if NP)
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in appropriate states
Current certification in CPR
National certification, in applicable area
Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
