As a
Transportation Manager
for World Kinect Corporation, you will provide guidance, coaching and training to Driver Supervisors as well as transport, tank wagon, lubes and DEF drivers in your assigned area. This is a 24/7 operations role, meaning you are available to support your team and respond to inquiry and incident 24-hours per day throughout the week, unless you are on PTO. The Transportation Manager works with the PDC Manager, supply, sales, logistics and dispatch to help facilitate people and asset capacity needs to meet demand. This is the key leadership role supporting safety and efficiency within field operations. This is a field position, requiring daily 80% of your time in direct connection with your team and those internal and external customers your team serves. You are responsible to the Senior Transportation Manager accountable to the Operation Manager for supporting the PDC Managers with transportation operation procedures and efficiencies, training, safety, expense control, DOT compliance, driver productivity and fleet utilization. Location: Virginia Beach/Newport News, VA Responsibilities Direct and guide all transport, tank wagon, lubes, DEF drivers and Driver Supervisors. Assuring they are trained and performing at a level consistent with WKC operating and safety procedures. Responsible for taking any incident calls during business hours and after hours. Communicating incidents immediately with the necessary parties and following through with all documentation required. Subject matter expert on loading and delivery procedures, legal requirements and specialized fuels and lubes storage, transport and delivery equipment. Subject matter expert on major brand lubricant products and product integrity requirements as it relates to the loading and delivery process. Liaison with compliance manager with required items for DOT requirements. Ensures compliance with all State, Federal regulations and WKC policies. Works and communicates effectively with Operations Managers, Fleet Managers, Sales, Dispatch, PDC Managers, senior leadership and, drivers and driver supervisors. Evaluates and report to the Operations Managers transport, tank wagon and lubes drivers' safety, efficiencies and job performance through quarterly ride-along evaluations, providing direct coaching and disciplinary guidance for all personnel matters. Monitors compliance to safety and security policies and procedures, conducts quarterly safety meetings in conjunction with HSE and compliance managers. Works with the HSE, compliance and driver supervisors to investigate all driving and procedure failure incidents. This may include direct incident or accident response, requiring interface with company leadership, fleet maintenance, environmental, municipalities (fire & police) as well as outside contractors to secure an accident scene. Responsible for interfacing with drivers for training, coaching, implementing safety protocols, driver scorecards and progressive discipline in a timely manner. Maintain a strong, direct partnership with the PDC Managers and human resources team on driver needs and disciplinary actions as well as recruiting support. Works with logistics and dispatch to ensure all shifts in all areas have the proper number of drivers to meet capacity needs in your area. Work with PDC Managers to ensure all safety training program materials and PPE safety equipment, such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, high visibility vests, etc., are available for the drivers. Travel regularly throughout designated areas of responsibilities, inspecting and ensuring all WKC directives, policies and procedures are communicated and being followed by driver team members. Coordinates and verifies attendance at all scheduled safety and team meetings as well as compliance with safety, security and operational policies and initiatives. Work with the PDC Manager, Logistics and Dispatch to maintain accurate driver schedules, vacation scheduling, sick time entry and audit, changes to the E-driver Log as required and submitting any expense reimbursement receipts. Ensuring all company equipment and truck yards are being used and maintained to WKC standards. Additional duties as assigned. Education College Degree preferred with three-year experience driving or five years transferable and equivalent experience. Work Experience 5 years of management experience required with deep understanding of trucking and fuel/lubes business Technical Skills & Specific Knowledge Required DOT and Hazardous training and experience preferred.
