Position Summary

Responsible for handling corporate and employment matters, oversight of litigation, and other matters under the direction of the Vice President, Secretary and Corporate Counsel. May provide advice, training, and oversight for other legal department employees.

Responsibilities

Responsible for corporate law matters such as:

Assist in preparation and organization of corporate minute books.

Oversee preparation of minutes and resolutions for corporate subsidiaries.

Oversee compliance of Corporation and subsidiaries with state corporate requirements.

Assist with Home American Mortgage Company, American Home Insurance Agency, and American Home Title and Escrow Company legal matters.

Responsible for employment law matters such as:

Provide advice on employment matters.

Assist in responding to employment proceedings, with the level of involvement dependent on experience.

Assist in conducting investigations, depending on experience.

Review employment documents.

Draft and finalize separation agreements as needed.

Responsible for oversight of litigation such as:

Oversight of construction defect, employment, contract, and other claims.

Coordination with the Risk Management department regarding insurance claims.

Other Responsibilities:

Provide advice on marketing materials.

Provide assistance to the Corporate Secretary.

Review contracts and agreements.

Perform legal research as necessary.

Provide advice on and opinion letters for transactions.

Assist in preparation and updating of corporate policies.

Assist in implementation of corporate policies, including Code of Conduct.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must have J.D. and have passed the Bar in the State of Colorado or equivalent work experience.

Approximately 5-10 years of corporate law experience preferred.

Compensation

Base Salary: $140,000-$170,000

FLSA Status: Exempt

Bonus Type: Year-end Discretionary
