Position Summary: The Logistics Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of outbound/inbound freight strategy of finished products within our distribution network. The Logistic Manager will be required to operate our Transportation Management System (TMS). This position will have an extensive background in TL and LTL carrier management, procurement, pricing, and carrier compliance. This position is expected to use industry insight to design, develop and resource low cost carrier solutions that meet our business needs and goals. The Logistic Manager will coordinate daily with the Customer Service team to ensure our customers receive quality service at the highest levels. A natural curiosity, drive for continuous improvement, and strong collaboration and problem-solving skills are required.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Use the TM platform daily to review and prepare new orders that flow from the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for execution in the transportation network. Participate in strategic sourcing and selection of carriers. Lead negotiations with vendors to establish the best possible rates for the organization. Be the organization's subject matter expert in freight logistics systems that support the delivery of products to our customers. Coordinate with Customer Service teams to ensure proper transportation execution based on customer needs. Support Sales Team by providing freight economics to current and potential new customers. Perform continuous improvement projects related to processes, procedures, and systems. Manage carrier activity to ensure products are delivered to customers in a timely manner. Develops and directs the implementation of procedures to reduce freight claims and ensure freight claims are processed and collected in a timely manner. Monitor and manage carriers to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Identify new carriers to add to the core carrier base or to migrate from non-strategic to strategic roles. Review, update and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP's). Monitor carrier performance and take corrective action to reverse negative trends and maintain required service levels. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required. 7 to 10 years of experience in logistics, transportation, and managing parcel freight 5+ years of experience working with best in class transportation management systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Excel super user preferred. Ability to work well autonomously and within a team environment. Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting. Ability to operate at both the strategic and tactical implementation level. Continuous improvement mind set, including the ability to innovate and simplify legacyprocesses. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients. Proven track record of taking ownership and driving resultsKnowledge and Skills: Knowledge and understanding of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) Extensive experience with rate negotiations, carrier contracting, and transportation Superior leadership, planning and organizing skills Superior analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Expertise in ERP, WMS, Transportation Management Systems Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint Ability to work independently and as part of a team
