What we need:QuantumScape is looking for a highly skilled and driven Metrology engineer to join our team. In this role, you will deliver metrology solutions in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, quickly learn the ins and outs of various metrology systems and become the subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will have strong background in metrology, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for driving continuous improvement initiatives. As a member of the metrology team, you will help us develop and deploy metrology tools to collect high volume and high velocity data that is predictive of battery and process performance.
Responsibilities:· Develop, build, and own metrology tools that characterize critical components of our batteries.· Work with suppliers and other 3rd parties to integrate inspection systems and sensors onto existing production equipment.· Develop new features and capabilities on existing and future metrology systems.· Design and execute studies to improve throughput and accuracy of metrology systems.· Support production teams by troubleshooting tool issues, training users, and eliminating tool down-time with engineering controls.
Qualifications & Skills:· B.S. in metrology, optics, mechatronics, electrical or systems engineering, applied physics or related field and 3+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing or related setting OR Master’s degree and 1+ year of professional experience in a manufacturing or related setting.· Strong communicator and enjoy collaborating with cross- functional teams to tackle complex challenges in a fast- changing environment.· Previous experience with machine vision software (camera control, image processing) and/or imaging and characterization hardware (optical, acoustic, or thermal sensors).· Professional experience with applying statistical methods to engineering problems using JMP or R or equivalent software
Preferred Qualifications:· Hands-on experience developing, validating, and releasing robust measurement systems.· Familiarity with measurement systems analysis, statistical process control, and design of experiments.· Experience, understanding of digital image processing or digital signal processing.· Scientific programming experience in python including NumPy, matplotlib, pandas, cv2, and skimage libraries.
This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role has a range of $109,900 to $131, 854, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
